LPS Chosen to Provide Innovative Lighting Solution at Loughborough University Elite Athlete Centre, Hotel and Student Village

The Elite student village and hotel at Loughborough university was built by Bowmer & Kirkland as a unique training camp built to serve the needs of all athletes, both able-bodied and with a disability.  The pioneering hotel provides 44 specialist bedrooms, including 20 altitude rooms and 8 fully DDA compliant accessible rooms.  The student rooms provide a mixture of 465 en-suite bedrooms and 108 cluster flats with shared facilities. The village is on the edge of the university’s existing bustling campus and operates 24-hours a day, 365 days per year.

LPS were contacted by specialist Electrical Installation Engineers, Electract Limited to provide a design and product offering for 4 x specialist feature columns to compliment the functional street lighting.   The solution supplied was for 4 x 6m columns each finished in graphite colour RAL9016 and equipped with 4 x Sonic LED projectors with glare shields installed around the column shaft in a spiral fashion from 5.5m to 4m with a mixture of 17° and 37° optics.

Richard Perkins (Business Development Manager) of Electract Limited commented “We were thrilled with the service and professionalism shown by Matt and the team at LPS.  We were tasked by the client with providing a decorative solution and needed a specialist lighting provider to take the concept design  and turn it into a reality.  Having drawn a blank with other manufactures we were delighted when LPS took up the challenge and delivered a first class solution.”
